Rogue Rangers

OVERVIEW

In 2017, I created and submitted a badge design to the Alt National Park Service as a response to mounting challenges facing the U.S. National Park Service. The design later became a die-cut sticker used to raise funds and awareness. It was a reminder that protecting public lands is not passive, it’s shared responsibility.

The Context

In 2017, the National Park Service faced significant political and environmental challenges that threatened funding, policy protections, and long-term stewardship of public lands. The Alt National Park Service emerged as a grassroots voice advocating for transparency, science, and preservation.

I created the Rogue Rangers badge as a visual call to action, a reminder that care for our parks does not belong to a single agency alone. It belongs to all of us.

The phrase “We Are All Rogue Rangers” reframed stewardship as something personal. The badge language echoed traditional park insignias while subtly shifting the message toward civic responsibility and collective ownership. The design was intentionally minimal and adaptable, built to function across digital platforms and physical merchandise.

The badge was later produced as a die-cut sticker to help raise funds in support of the cause. What began as a graphic submission became a tangible object carried onto trails, water bottles, backpacks, and into public space extending the message beyond the screen and into everyday use.

This project was about reinforcing a simple idea: preserved spaces endure when people choose to protect them.
