Out for Orlando

OVERVIEW

Out For Orlando emerged in the aftermath of the Pulse Nightclub shooting as a way to support the community when words felt insufficient. Using design and screen printing, the project created a simple, shared gesture of visibility and support.

The Context

In the days following the Pulse Nightclub shooting, Orlando was grieving in public and in private. People were searching for ways to show up for one another, to process what had happened, and to help the city heal in tangible ways. Out For Orlando began as a small, community-driven response to that moment.

Using screen printing and design, a simple shirt became a way for people to contribute, connect, and say, “I’m still here.” The phrase was intentional. It was about continuing to gather, continuing to be visible, and continuing to protect the spaces that make community possible, even in the face of fear.

What started as a single test print quickly turned into a collective effort. Friends, artists, and former classmates stepped in to help print, pack, and fulfill orders as word spread through social networks. Together, the project raised $1,087 for the Pulse Victims Fund, funded entirely by community support.

Out For Orlando wasn’t about scale or spectacle. It was about using familiar tools to meet a moment, and about choosing care, visibility, and action when words weren’t enough.
