Producer & Product Owner

OVERVIEW

As a Producer on Madden NFL, I lead the end-to-end delivery of UI and Narrative features, shaping the vision, aligning cross-disciplinary teams, and ensuring the final experience feels intuitive, performant, and emotionally connected to football. My work spans strategy, execution, alignment, accessibility, and team development, balancing creative and operational needs to support a massive live and annual franchise.

The Challenge

Madden’s UI and Narrative systems touch every player, every mode, and every moment of the game. Operating at this scale means navigating:

  • Complex cross-team dependencies

  • Large volumes of content and features

  • High player expectations

  • Technical constraints across platforms

  • Tight, fixed timelines

  • Multiple leadership groups with different priorities

My goal: strengthen alignment, improve clarity, and guide teams toward delivering higher-quality, more responsive experiences with fewer blockers and more intention.

My Role

I serve as a connective thread between UI/UX, Visual Design, Motion, Narrative, XDT, SE, Production, Brand, and partner teams.

In this role, I:

  • Shape product vision and execution strategy

  • Facilitate alignment and decision-making across pods

  • Define scope, identify risks, and create delivery plans

  • Ensure features meet quality benchmarks and gate requirements

  • Lead the UI Optimization Strike Team

  • Drive accessibility initiatives across Madden

  • Develop writers and designers through consistent coaching

  • Build operational rhythms that support autonomy and high performance

WHAT I DID

Strengthened Cross-Team Visibility & Alignment

I created recurring touchpoints with POs, BOs, and ADs to ensure UI, Narrative, and partner teams were aligned early and often.
This directly supported collaboration on:

  • Skills Trainer

  • Broadcast Packages

  • Post-Play Drama

  • Player Reticle improvements

  • Accessibility goals across multiple pods

This increased trust, reduced friction, and created faster paths to unblock teams.

 

Delivered High-Quality Features Across UI & Narrative

I facilitated alignment throughout Pre-Production and Production, partnering with leads to close planning gaps and bring clarity to decision-making.

Key outcomes:

  • All UI and Narrative gate criteria were met on time

  • Multiple stretch goals were delivered

  • Previously out-of-scope Narrative features were reintroduced via cross-pod partnerships

  • UI supported the rollout of several major Broadcast Packages

  • Reticle updates improved clarity and gameplay responsiveness

 

Led the UI Optimization Strike Team

I defined criteria for prioritization, built a strategy for optimization, partnered with UI on visual and motion improvements, and maintained tight communication with leadership.

Result:

  • Franchise transitions reduced from 4.4s → 1.9s

  • Global usability improved

  • Clear M26 roadmap established

  • Teams gained alignment and a more repeatable process

 

Developed Designers & Writers Across Multiple Disciplines

I managed direct reports through:

  • Real-time actionable feedback

  • Clear expectations

  • Performance management

  • Coaching toward autonomy

  • Coordinating transitions to discipline-specific leadership when appropriate

I held frequent check-ins, ensured visibility, and supported consistent improvement.

 

Grew My Own Leadership

Throughout the year, I strengthened my communication confidence, delegation skills, and strategic presence in leadership forums such as Production Syncs and Build Reviews.
My focus became balancing depth and elevation—knowing when to dive in and when to pull back so the team could lead themselves.
